Grant Overview Details

The Western Australian (WA) Government has launched Round 3 of the Charge Up Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Grants (Charge Up grants) to help drive EV uptake.

Charge Up grants provides up to 50 per cent co-funding for eligible applicants to purchase and install EV charging infrastructure for sites in WA.

  • Purchase and installation of up to four EV AC and/or DC chargers per site.
  • Up to five sites per applicant.
  • Installation costs including a two-year maintenance plan (mandatory for public chargers)*.
  • Two-year software subscription.
  • Network upgrades*.

Applications close at 5pm on 30 June 2025 or when available funding is fully committed. You can apply via the application portal.

Grant Eligibility

The Charge Up Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Grants (Charge Up grants) are available for small to medium enterprises, local government authorities, and not-for-profits.

How do I know if my organisation is eligible?

  • Local Government Authorities as established under the Local Government Act 1995.
  • Not-for-profits registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
  • Small to medium enterprises (SME) with less than 200 employees and not part of a large corporation (aggregate turnover more than $250 million), including: franchises that are an SME; and landowners and charge point operators (CPOs) – if a substantial proportion of site occupants with access to the charger are eligible organisations and, for CPOs only, if you require the grant funding to ensure continued commercial viability.

The Grant Process

Determine Your Eligibility: To avoid wasting time and resources, ensure your organisation is eligible before seeking quotes and applying for grant approval.

Scope Your Site: Applicants may get grants covering 50% of the cost for up to four EV chargers per location across a maximum of five sites, with eligible chargers ranging from 7kW to 350kW.

Get a Quote: Obtain a quote from our team which will details the cost of the EV chargers, a two-year software subscription, and installation expenses.

Submit Your Application: To apply, visit the Smartygrants application portal answer the application questions, upload all necessary quotes, and click submit.

Receive a Notification on the Outcome: The Charge Up team aims to inform you of your application’s outcome by email within 20 business days. The assessment period may vary based on project complexity.

If Successful, It’s installation Time: If approved, you’ll receive an email confirming your grant funding, allowing you to proceed with your project and installation.

Submit Evidence for Reimbursement: Successful applicants need to provide proof of completed and paid work on the application portal to receive reimbursement funds.
