Eligible chargers include single or dual-port AC or DC chargers, ranging from 7kW to 350kW, on the Charge Up Round 3 Approved List.
- Up to four chargers per site, with a maximum of five sites per applicant.
How is the installation funded?
Funding caps vary by location and charger size:
- Greater Perth: up to $5,000 per site for chargers up to 150kW; up to $10,000 for over 150kW
- Regional WA: up to $10,000 per site for chargers up to 150kW; up to $20,000 for over 150kW
(Amounts exclude GST and are subject to caps based on site conditions.)

What about software?
A two-year software subscription from an approved supplier on the Round 3 list is mandatory.
- Select your software before choosing chargers to ensure compatibility.
The following expenses are ineligible for funding support:
- Grant application costs
- Feasibility studies, business case development or council approval costs (if required)
- Chargers that have already been purchased and/or installed
- Chargers not listed on the approved EV charger list
- Software subscriptions not listed on the approved EV charger software list

- Internet costs
- Electricity supply costs
- Salaries or staffing expenses
- Promotion or marketing costs (including signage)
- Optional costs such as bay painting, installing bollards and adding cable holders
- Equipment installed for future EV charging infrastructure.
Installation costs for your charger(s) depend largely on the need for extensive construction work and/or network upgrades, which alone can add approximately $50,000 to $100,000.
To help limit costs, you should collaborate with an EV installer or contractor to design your project, assess site needs, and provide quotes.
Note: Costs for project development and quote preparation are not covered by the Charge Up Gant Program.
What quotes do I need to obtain before applying?
You must get independent quotes for:
- EV charging hardware
- A two-year software subscription
- Charger installation
If network upgrades are required, also contact the Charge Up team for guidance before obtaining a quote from your provider.
Who should provide these quotes?
Quotes should come from qualified and independent professionals, such as:
- Approved Software Suppliers
- Electrical contractors
- EV charger installers
All quotes must clearly itemise costs for the following (from the Round 3 Approved List):
- EV charger hardware (manufacturer, type, size, model)
- Installation (civil and electrical works, including maintenance plan)
- Two-year software subscription (platform and provider)
Are there any costs that aren’t covered?
Yes. Costs outside these categories, including ineligible installation works, will not be supported by the grant and must be listed separately in the quotes.
